(UPDATED: January 2, 2010) That's what all parents want for their children. I believe the 'a' in parent means 'always.' I raised three children, two girls and a boy. My daughter, Lisa, lives with an auditory-processing disorder. At one time, she was diagnosed with bipolar/personality disorder. She took medications for several years. Eventually, after moving out-of-state to look for employment, life changed dramatically for her. Diet, along with taking a green food supplement (which is stated below regarding my son), got her off of her medications. In fact, she was rediagnosed by a different psychiatrist and he determined she never had bipolar/personality disorder.
When I learned Andrew had autism, my life changed. I became his advocate and seeker of knowledge. The bright-eyed happy toddler became a different person.
He was miserable in elementary school and middle school became a nightmare. It was such an horrific experience that I wrote a book about it under the pen name, 'Sahron Ollie.' This book contains original medical letters and actual 504 Plans. It has and continues to be a great informational source for any parent wanting to advocate for their child.
Eventually, he would describe his life as 'living inside someone else's body.' I believe that the change in Andrew was caused by mercury in his vaccinations despite the recent claim of genetics.
When Andrew graduated from high school with honors, due to having certain accommodations, I thought he would make it in college.
I was WRONG! I prayed for divine intervention. My prayers were answered by learning about a specific green food. I discovered a change in Andrew's diet, along with taking a daily green food supplement, made a dramatic difference. In fact, taking this green food along with Andrew cured me of having gingivitis. No more deep cleanings for me!
Currently, Andrew is a college student and accommodations are no longer needed. He is making straight As! Hard to believe, but true! Sometimes, it is the simple things that can make the most difference in one's life. Our miracle was in learning about spirulina.
Update as of January 2, 2010: Andrew graded with honors from the local community college. Currently, he is a junior at a public university and completed the Fall semester. He maintained full-time status and received all As. He totally respects his professors, because his thirst for knowledge is being fulfilled. In his spare time, Andrew does community service and is working on a novel about cultural differences. Mom and Dad are proud of you!
